Things To See And Do On A Cruise Ship

People worry that they will find themselves at a loose end on a cruise. They think that relaxing and unwinding is all very well, but how long can one do nothing? Bask in the sun or read a book … and then what? You can’t go away from a ship at sea!

Actually, it’s quite hard to get bored on a cruise. For those who find it hard to do nothing when they’re used to putting in those eight hours every day, and fret if they don’t have a specific objective to account for their time, reading a book or getting a tan just won’t do. It’s hard to keep people like that occupied but there are all kinds of activities on board a cruise ship that will make ennui disappear.

In fact, there are so many activities to choose from that even the most active person won’t be able to do them all during the voyage.

To start with, you must explore the ship that’s going to be your home for several weeks. This will take you some time, especially if yours is a big ship like the Elation, the Carnival Cruise Lines ship– 885 feet in length, with three swimming pools, a gymnasium and a choice of restaurants. You’ll find concerts and plays being offered to keep passengers amused – check performance times to make sure you don’t miss any.

While you’re making your voyage of exploration around your cruise ship, you’ll discover all sorts of interesting little places, various decks with special areas for passengers. The ship itself is fascinating, too, especially for those keen on engineering or naval architecture.

Night-time: A panoply of activities for owls of all feathers

Night life is quite interesting on board a cruise ship. Besides the theatre mentioned earlier, with the opportunity to see some good talent on stage, you could go for one of the regular comedy shows held on the ship and laugh your head off. Or check out a magic show and be astounded by amazing tricks from some of the most skilled exponents of the art.

Day-time: Plenty to do for birds of all feathers

And for daytime activities there are pools to swim in, exciting waterslides, games like volleyball to play on deck, indoor games like table tennis – you need to go on board yourself to experience the whole range of activities! And after a busy day doing all these things, you’ll be glad to spend some time just doing nothing as well…

For young folks (as well as the young at heart!), there is no end to the activities offered. The arcades on board are well-equipped with computer games, pinball machines and mini racing cars. The kids can even play winter games on artificial snow!

There are all kinds of games available – action games; and ones that require a bit of thinking … you might prefer playing a tough game of chess or putting together a huge three-dimensional jigsaw puzzle to a slot game (not real gambling) or killing an evil electronic villain. It’s your choice!

And as you’re enjoying the various cruise activities you’re interested in, you’ll be at a port before you know it, and can discover the delights of being in a strange, exciting place. So don’t carry your laptop with you – get ready for a whole lot of on-board fun and a great cruise!
